Industry expectations and Innovation in IT

Was invited to talk on “Industry expectations and Innovation in IT” by Sinhgad Institute of Management and Computer Application, Pune. sometime back

It was a very refreshing experience to interact with the young students, aspiring to take a leap in their life

In the session, we conducted one small group activity.

We divided the students into 2 groups and were given a puzzle to sol\ve

They were given just 4 peices and using that a English letter – T was to be formed

In the begining, only a handful of students were trying the combinations that they could think of and others were only sitting back and just observing

Once it was realized that they cannot solve the puzzle, everyone started giving suggestions

Again, not all suggestions were tried as the puzzle pieces were in the hands of 2/3 students

Even after trying different combinations there was no success so they passed the pieces to others to try

After struggling for 10 minutes and trying combinations as per everyone’s suggestions, one group could crack the puzzle

It was an YESSSS moments for them.

Everyone in that group was happy and started giving high fives to each other

Eventually the other group also could solve the puzzle

Students themselves realized the important Lessons learnt from the activity

– Out of the box thinking

– Team Work

– Communication

– Continuously trying new combinations

– Respecting each individual in the team for their opinions/suggestions and trying those suggestions

Which is a core of Software Development

Later we had lot of fun discussing different industry expectations and Innovation in IT.

I could see the joy of learning new things on the student’s faces
